About Ron HewettMy approach to leadership is based on 40 years of leadership experience working in a variety of environments that require a no-nonsense approach. We provide training, but more importantly, the follow-up to ensure that the training has made the proper impact. My customers find our offerings to be effective with value showing up on their bottom line. Ron is the founder and president of Leadership and Performance Strategies. His leadership experience is unique. He started as a teenage deck hand on a shrimp trawler off the Carolina Coast, studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then later attended and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. A military career included ship command during the Persian Gulf War and Pentagon assignments as a strategic planner designing the modern Navy's manpower structure, as well as redesigning the military logistics infrastructure after Desert Storm. After a military career, Ron developed and administered a leadership program for at-risk teenagers in the Washington, DC area. Ron went on to a successful tenure as the Senior Director of Safety and Training for the port facilities operated by the Danish shipping corporation, Maersk. Ron's facilities developed safety programs considered to be the best in the US. His expertise was extended to international ports. Central to the success of these ports was the management training program Ron developed to support the entry level and mid-grade managers. As a leadership trainer and coach, Ron provides leadership workshops that are balanced with humor and challenge. He brings out the best attributes in teams and individuals while emphasizing basic time-proven leadership principles. He also provides executive coaching with emphasis on feedback instruments provided in association with the Center for Creative Leadership. All programs are performance oriented and focus on applications in the workplace, community, and home. In addition to his bachelor or science degree from Annapolis, Ron holds an M.S. in Management Science from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He has done additional graduate study and research in the field of education at The George Washington University.
